    asiaeorientalis is actually an independent muscle originating from the caudal border of the occiput, passing through the posterior atlanto-occipital interspace, and then attaches to the cervical spinal dura mater. Thus the so called MDB of the N.asiaeorientalis is actually an independent and uniquely specialized muscle. Based on the origin and insertion of this muscle, the present authors name it the 'Occipital-Dural Muscle’. It appears that the direct pull of this muscle on the cervical spinal dura mater may affect the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid by altering the volume of the subarachnoid space via a pumping action.Milky seas are a rare form of marine bioluminescence where the nocturnal ocean surface produces a widespread, uniform and steady whitish glow. Mariners have compared their appearance to a daylit snowfield that extends to all horizons. Encountered most often in remote waters of the northwest Indian Ocean and the Maritime Continent, milky seas have eluded rigorous scientific inquiry, and thus little is known about their composition, formation mechanism, and role within the marine ecosystem. The Day/Night Band (DNB), a new-generation spaceborne low-light imager, holds potential to detect milky seas, but the capability has yet to be demonstrated. Here, we show initial examples of DNB-detected milky seas based on a multi-year (2012-2021) search. The massive bodies of glowing ocean, sometimes exceeding 100,000 km2 in size, persist for days to weeks, drift within doldrums amidst the prevailing sea surface currents, and align with narrow ranges of sea surface temperature and biomass in a way that suggests water mass isolation. These findings show how spaceborne assets can now help guide research vessels toward active milky seas to learn more about them.Diet of the crab-eating monkey (Macaca fascicularis) consists of both plants and animals, including chitin-containing organisms such as crabs and insects. This omnivorous monkey has a high expression of acidic chitinase (CHIA) in the stomach and here, we report on its enzymatic properties under different conditions. When we compared with Mus musculus CHIA (Mm-CHIA), Macaca fascicularis CHIA (Mf-CHIA) exhibits higher chitinolytic activity at broad pH (1.0-7.0) and temperature (30-70 ℃) range. Interestingly, at its optimum pH (5.0), Mf-CHIA showed the highest activity at 65 °C while maintaining it at robust levels between 50 and 70 °C. The degradation efficiency of Mf-CHIA was superior to Mm-CHIA toward both polymeric chitin as well as an artificial chromogenic substrate. Our results show that unique features of Mf-CHIA including its thermostability warrant the nomination of this enzyme for potential agricultural and biomedical applications.Near 100% of diffractive efficiency for diffractive optical elements (DOEs) is one of the most required optical performances in broadband imaging applications. Of all flat DOEs, none seems to interest researchers as much as Two-Materials Composed Diffractive Fresnel Lens (TM-DFL) among the most promising flat DOEs. An approach of the near 100% of diffractive efficiency for TM-DFL once developed to determine the design rules mainly takes the advantage of numerical computation by methods of mapping and fitting. Despite a curved line of near 100% of diffractive efficiency can be generated in the Abbe and partial dispersion diagram, it is not able to analytically elaborate the relationship between two optical materials that compose the TM-DFL. Here, we present a theoretical framework, based on the fundaments of Cauchy’s equation, Abbe number, partial dispersion, and the diffraction theory of Fresnel lens, for obtaining a general design formalism, so to perform the perfect material matching between two different optical materials for achieving the near 100% of diffractive efficiency for TM-DFL in the broadband imaging applications.Accumulation of tau protein is a key pathology of age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and progressive supranuclear palsy. Those diseases are collectively termed tauopathies. Tau pathology is associated with axonal degeneration because tau binds to microtubules (MTs), a component of axon and regulates their stability. The acetylation state of MTs contributes to stability and histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) is a major regulator of MT acetylation status, suggesting that pharmacological HDAC6 inhibition could improve axonal function and may slow the progression of tauopathy. Here we characterize N-[(1R,2R)-2-3-[5-(difluoromethyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]-5-oxo-5H,6H,7H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-ylcyclohexyl]-2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropanamide (T-518), a novel, potent, highly selective HDAC6 inhibitor with clinically favorable pharmacodynamics. T-518 shows potent inhibitory activity against HDAC6 and superior selectivity over other HDACs compared with the known HDAC6 inhibitors in the enzyme and cellular assays. T-518 showed brain penetration in an oral dose and blocked HDAC6-dependent tubulin deacetylation at Lys40 in mouse hippocampus. A 2-week treatment restored impaired axonal transport and novel object recognition in the P301S tau Tg mouse, tauopathy model, while a 3-month treatment also decreased RIPA-insoluble tau accumulation. Pharmaceutical inhibition of HDAC6 is a potential therapeutic strategy for tauopathy, and T-518 is a particularly promising drug candidate.Ambush predators depend on cryptic body colouration, stillness and a suitable hunting location to optimise the probability of prey capture. Detection of cryptic predators, such as crab spiders, by flower seeking wasps may also be hindered by wind induced movement of the flowers themselves. In a beach dune habitat, Microbembex nigrifrons wasps approaching flowerheads of the Palafoxia lindenii plant need to evaluate the flowers to avoid spider attack. Wasps may detect spiders through colour and movement cues. We tracked the flight trajectories of dune wasps as they approached occupied and unoccupied flowers under two movement conditions; when the flowers were still or moving. We simulated the appearance of the spider and the flower using psychophysical visual modelling techniques and related it to the decisions made by the wasp to land or avoid the flower. Wasps could discriminate spiders only at a very close range, and this was reflected in the shape of their trajectories. Wasps were more prone to making errors in threat assessment when the flowers are moving. Our results suggest that dune wasp predation risk is augmented by abiotic conditions such as wind and compromises their early detection capabilities.We aimed to answer the following questions (1) How did numbers of revision knee arthroplasty procedures develop in Germany over the last decade compared to primary TKA? (2) How high was the percentage of septic interventions in knee prosthesis revisions? (3) Which treatment strategy was chosen for surgical treatment of knee PJI? Revision arthroplasty rates as a function of age, gender, infection and type of prosthesis were quantified based on Operation and Procedure Classification System codes using revision knee arthroplasty data from 2008 to 2018, provided by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis). In 2018, a total number 23,812 revision knee arthroplasties were performed in Germany, yielding an overall increase of 20.76% between 2008 and 2018. In comparison, primary TKA procedures increased by 23.8% from 152,551 performed procedures in 2008 to 188,866 procedures in 2018. Hence, 12.6% of knee arthroplasties required a revision in 2018. Septic interventions increased by 51.7% for all revisions. A trend towards higher numbers in younger patients was observed. Compared to 2008, 17.41% less DAIR procedures were performed, whereby single-stage and two- or multi-stage change increased by 38.76% and 42.76% in 2018, respectively. The increasing number of revision knee arthroplasty in Germany, especially in younger patients and due to infection, underlines the need for future efforts to improve treatment strategies to delay primary arthroplasty and avoid periprosthetic joint infection.Postmortem magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the fixed healthy and diseased human brain facilitates spatial resolutions and image quality that is not achievable with in vivo MRI scans. Though challenging-and almost exclusively performed at 7 T field strength-depicting the tissue architecture of the entire brain in fine detail is invaluable since it enables the study of neuroanatomy and uncovers important pathological features in neurological disorders. The objectives of the present work were (1) to develop a 3D isotropic ultra-high-resolution imaging approach for human whole-brain ex vivo acquisitions working on a standard clinical 3 T MRI system; and (2) to explore the sensitivity and specificity of this concept for specific pathoanatomical features of multiple sclerosis. The reconstructed images demonstrate unprecedented resolution and soft tissue contrast of the diseased human brain at 3 T, thus allowing visualization of sub-millimetric lesions in the different cortical layers and in the cerebellar cortex, as well as unique cortical lesion characteristics such as the presence of incomplete/complete iron rims, and patterns of iron accumulation. Further details such as the subpial molecular layer, the line of Gennari, and some intrathalamic nuclei are also well distinguishable.The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between heart rate variability (HRV), a non-invasive tool for evaluating autonomic function, and routine coagulation indices (RCIs) in patients with breast cancer (BC). Forty-six BC patients were enrolled in this study. Blood biochemistry tests were performed to extract RCIs, including prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and thrombin time (TT). Five-minute electrocardiograms were collected for analysis of HRV parameters (SDNN, RMSSD, LF, HF, LF n.u., HF n.u., LF/HF). Multiple linear regression models examined the relationship of HRV parameters with RCIs. RMSSD, LF n.u., HF n.u., LF/HF were significantly associated with PT. Specifically, the value of PT increased by 0.192 ± 0.091 or 0.231 ± 0.088 s, respectively for each 1 standard deviation (SD) increase in RMSSD or HF n.u.; it increased by 0.230 ± 0.088 or 0.215 ± 0.088 s, respectively for each 1 – SD decrease in LF n.u. or ln (LF/HF) (all P  less then  0.05). RMSSD was significantly associated with APTT, i.e., the value of APTT increased by 1.032 ± 0.470 s for each 1 – SD increase in RMSSD (P  less then  0.05). HRV parameters were associated with RCIs in patients with BC. These observations suggest that the autonomic nervous system and coagulation indices in BC patients are linked, potentially explaining the reason that they are both associated with the prognosis.Most studies either followed Joint National Committee 7 (JNC 7) or World Health Organization-International Society of Hypertension (WHO-ISH) guidelines to ascertain the prevalence of hypertension among Bangladeshi adults. The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) revised the definition of hypertension in 2017, which has significant public health importance. In Bangladesh, the new guideline has resulted changes in prevalence and risk factors for hypertension compared to the JNC7 guideline. This study used data from the most recent round (2017-2018) of the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS). According to the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline, the participants were categorized as hypertensive if they had blood pressure (BP) ≥ 130/80 mmHg, but it was ≥ 140/90 mmHg in JNC 7 guideline. A total of 11,959 participants were involved in the analysis. The median (IQR) age of the respondents was 34.0 (18.0-95.0) years. The prevalence of hypertension was 24.0% according to the JNC 7 guideline, which was 50.
