    To detect miR-383-5p and cold-inducible RNA binding protein (CIRBP, CIRP) expression in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and explore the mechanism underlying their effect on apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells (GCs).

    GCs were extracted from follicular fluid from 101 patients. MiR-383-5p and CIRP expression were assessed by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction analysis. Correlation between them was assessed by Spearman correlation analysis. The potential of using miR-383-5p expression for discriminating PCOS and non-PCOS patients was predicted by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Proliferation and apoptosis of KGN cells transfected for miR-383-5p overexpression or knockdown was evaluated using cell counting kit-8 assay, flow cytometry, and western blot analysis. CIRP was identified as a direct target of miR-383-5p, and verified by dual-luciferase reporter assay.

    The expression level of miR-383-5p was decreased and CIRP mRNA was increased in PCOS patients. The expression of miR-383-5p was correlated negatively with body-mass index, basal luteinizing hormone and testosterone levels, luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio, and the number of retrieved and metaphase II oocytes. MiR-383-5p had sufficient potential for prediction of PCOS. There was a negative correlation between the expression of miR-383-5p and CIRP. Overexpression of miR-383-5p enhanced the apoptosis of KGN cells. CIRP reversed the effect of miR-383-5p on promotion of apoptosis. MiR-383-5p mimics could suppress the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, which was activated by the CIRP overexpressing plasmid.

    To evaluate the burden of illness caused by hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and association of readmissions due to HG with maternal, environmental and pregnancy-related factors, and different pregnancy outcomes.

    Data of women with HG diagnosis in Finland, 2005-2017, were retrieved from health-care registers. Associations between readmissions due to HG and age, gravidity, parity, pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), smoking, marital status, socioeconomic status, municipality population, assisted reproductive technology (ART), and number and sex of fetuses were analyzed in pregnancies resulting in delivery. Admissions and readmissions due to HG in deliveries, gestational trophoblastic disease, ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages and pregnancy terminations were calculated.

    10,381 pregnancies with HG diagnosis were identified 9518 live births, 31 stillbirths, 8 cases of gestational trophoblastic disease, 16 ectopic pregnancies, 299 miscarriages, and 509 pregnancy terminations. Both outpatients and inpatients weree of planning for eventual long-term treatment.

    The study reports our experience with paired inspiration/expiration thin-section computed tomographic (CT) scans in the follow-up of COVID-19 patients with persistent respiratory symptoms.

    From August 13, 2020, to May 31, 2021, 48 long-COVID patients with respiratory symptoms (27 men and 21 women; median age, 62.0 years; interquartile range 54.0-69.0 years) underwent follow-up paired inspiration-expiration thin-section CT scans. Patient demographics, length of hospital stay, intensive care unit admission rate, and clinical and laboratory features of acute infection were also included. The scans were obtained on a median of 72.5 days after onset of symptoms (interquartile range 58.5-86.5) and at least 30 days after hospital discharge. Thin-section CT findings included ground-glass opacity, mosaic attenuation pattern, consolidation, traction bronchiectasis, reticulation, parenchymal bands, bronchial wall thickening, and air trapping. We used a quantitative score to determine the degree of air trapping in th-reduction options are recommended for demonstrating air trapping in long-COVID patients.

    In the present study, we aim to show the results of microwave ablation (MWA) for medically inoperable stage I non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) with long-term follow-up.

    From Feb 2011 to Mar 2016, patients with histologically proven clinical stage I NSCLC were treated with CT-guided MWA and retrospectively analyzed. The primary end point was overall survival (OS). Secondary end points included disease-free survival (DFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and complications.

    A total of 105 patients with 105 lesions underwent MWA. The mean age was 70.7 years (range 40-86 years), and the mean diameter of all lesions was 2.40 cm (range 0.9-4.0 cm). Adenocarcinoma was the most common histological type (77, 73.3%), followed by squamous cell carcinomas (21, 20%) and undefined NSCLC (7, 6.7%). With a median follow-up of 54.8 months, the median DFS was 36.0 months, and 1-, 3-, and 5-year DFS rates were 89.5%, 49.4%, and 42.7%, respectively. The median CSS and OS were 89.8 and 64.2 months, respectively. The OS rts. Most MWA complications were mild or moderate.

    To establish a nomogram for predicting central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) based on the preoperative clinical and multimodal ultrasound (US) features of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and cervical LNs.

    Overall, 822 patients with PTC were included in this retrospective study. A thyroid tumor ultrasound model (TTUM) and thyroid tumor and cervical LN ultrasound model (TTCLNUM) were constructed as nomograms to predict the CLNM risk. Areas under the curve (AUCs) evaluated model performance. Calibration and decision curves were applied to assess the accuracy and clinical utility.

    For the TTUM training and test sets, the AUCs were 0.786 and 0.789 and bias-corrected AUCs were 0.786 and 0.831, respectively. For the TTCLNUM training and test sets, the AUCs were 0.806 and 0.804 and bias-corrected AUCs were 0.807 and 0.827, respectively. Calibration and decision curves for the TTCLNUM nomogram exhibited higher accuracy and clinical practicability. The AUCs were 0.746 and 0.719 and specificities were 0.942 and 0M of different PTC tumor sizes. It may serve as a useful clinical tool to provide valuable information for active surveillance and treatment decisions.

    To investigate the malignancy rate of probably benign calcifications assessed by digital magnification view and imaging and clinical features associated with malignancy.

    This retrospective study included consecutive women with digital magnification views assessed as probably benign for calcifications without other associated mammographic findings from March 2009 to January 2014. Initial studies rendering a probably benign assessment were analyzed, with biopsy or 4-year imaging follow-up. Fisher’s exact test and univariable logistic regression were performed. Cancer yields were calculated.

    A total of 458 lesions in 422 patients were finally included. The overall cancer yield was 2.2% (10 of 458, invasive cancer [n = 4] and DCIS [n = 6]). Calcification distribution (OR = 23.80, p = .041), calcification morphology (OR = 10.84, p = .005), increased calcifications (OR = 29.40, p = .001), and having a concurrent newly diagnosed breast cancer or high-risk lesion (OR = 10.24, p = .001) were associated with maliibution, morphology, increase in calcifications, and the presence of newly diagnosed breast cancer/high-risk lesion were associated with malignancy (all p < .05).

    To investigate the long-term effects of intensive LDL cholesterol-lowering treatments on lumen stenosis severity, plaque calcification, spotty calcifications, percent calcified plaque volume (PCPV), and Agatston coronary artery calcium score (CACS) based on coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in elderly patients.

    A total of 240 patients over 60 years old (comprising 754 lesions) who underwent serial CCTA were retrospectively enrolled in this 5-year cohort study. Patients were divided into three groups an intensive lipid-lowering group, a lipid-lowering group, and a control group. The stenosis severity, plaque volume (PV), plaque composition, PCPV, and high-risk plaque (HRP) presence were quantitatively analyzed. The CACS was calculated at baseline and follow-up.

    All patients were male with an average age of 66.8 ± 5.8 years old. Over time, increases in the percentages of obstructive coronary lesions (p < 0.001) were observed. Compared with those at baseline, the percentage of obstructive ations by serial CCTAs may help to refine risk stratification.

    Mindfulness meditation (MM) practice is considered to benefit physical and mental health. In particular, several studies have shown a beneficial effect of MM practice on memory performance. However, it is still not clear how long-term training affects long-term declarative memory. In this study we aimed to examine whether long-term MM training impacts declarative memory formation for diverse memoranda types, as well as the role of trait mindfulness, and the possible mediating role of anxiety.

    We examined long-term memory performance in 23 experienced MM practitioners and 22 meditation-naïve age-matched individuals, by administering a variety of declarative memory tests, ranging from item recognition to narrative and autobiographical memory recollection and future projection. The participants also filled the Five Facet MindfulnessQuestionnaire (FFMQ) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI).

    Compared to the control group, long-term MM practitioners exhibited heightened memory performance for the picture recognition test and experienced enhanced vividness during autobiographic memory retrieval and future simulations.
