The anti-gAChR antibodies may play a crucial role in autonomic dysfunction observed in ARD. Further studies are necessary to determine whether anti-gAChR antibody levels are correlated with the severity of autonomic dysfunction in ARD.DRAM2-associated retinopathy is a rare inherited retinal dystrophy, and its outcome has not been determined. A single retinal involvement by a mutation of the DRAM2 gene is unexplained. We found three unrelated patients with a disease-causing DRAM2 variant in a biallelic state from 1555 Japanese individuals of 1314 families with inherited retinal dystrophy. We reviewed their medical records and examined their peripheral lymphocytes by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Patient 1 was a 38-year-old woman who complained of night blindness and reduced vision. She developed macular degeneration at age 43 years. Patients 2 and 3 were a man and a woman both of whom noticed night blindness in their 30s. Both had a degeneration in the macula and midperiphery in their 40s, which progressed to a diffuse retinal degeneration in their 60s when their vision was reduced to hand motions. Three novel DRAM2 variants were identified. TEM of the lymphocytes of Patients 1 and 2 showed abnormal structures in 40.6% and 0.3% of the peripheral lymphocytes, respectively. We concluded that the DRAM2-associated retinopathy of our patients was a progressive rod-cone dystrophy, and the visual outcome was poor. The systemic effect of DRAM2 mutations may be compensable and have variations.BACKGROUND Clozapine is of high clinical relevance for the management of both treatment-resistant schizophrenia and psychotic disturbances with concurrent drug misuse. Although the molecule presents with a range of well-known side-effects, its discontinuation/withdrawal syndrome has been only anecdotally described. AIMS the 2005-2018 European Medicines Agency (EMA) dataset of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) was analyzed to identify and describe possible clozapine withdrawal- and misuse-/abuse-/dependence-related issues. METHOD A descriptive analysis of clozapine-related ADRs was performed when available, data on ADRs’ outcome, dosage, and possible concomitant drug(s) were considered. RESULTS Out of 11,847 clozapine-related ADRs, some 599 (5.05%) were related to misuse/abuse/dependence/withdrawal issues, including 258 withdrawal-related (43.1%); 241 abuse-related (40.2%); and 80 intentional product misuse-related (13.3%) ADRs. A small number of overdose- and suicide-related ADRs were reported as well. Clozapine was typically (69.2%) identified alone, and most (84.7%) fatalities/high-dosage intake instances were reported in association with a history of substance abuse. CONCLUSIONS Previous suggestions about the possibility of a clozapine discontinuation/withdrawal occurrence are here supported, but further studies are needed. However, the misuse/abuse cases here identified might be difficult to interpret, given the lack of studies highlighting the possible recreational use of clozapine. The high-dosage intake, fatal outcomes and clozapine/polydrug abuse issues reported here may, however, be a reason for concern. An oxygen-free solar selective absorbing coating of Cu/TixSiyN/AlSiN was prepared on a Cu buffered stainless steel substrate by magnetron sputtering. This coating was prepared using a single target for each layer. A spectrophotometer, Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer and atomic force microscopy were used to characterize the optical properties, crystalline structure, morphology and composition of these coatings. The coating of Cu/TixSiyN/AlSiN has good optical properties (average absorption of 0.941 and emittance of 0.058) and excellent thermal stability. The performance criterion (PC) is 0.0365, when the solar selective absorbing coating is heated in air at 200 °C for 1200 h.Balangu (Lallemantia sp.) is a medicinal herb with a variety of applications, all parts of which have economic uses, including leaf for extraction of essential oils, as a vegetable and potherb, seed for extraction of mucilage and edible or industrial oil. To investigate the effect of cultivation season and standard chemical and nano fertilizers (n) on the yield components and antioxidant properties of Dragon’s head, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design was conducted with 12 treatments and three replications. Experimental treatments consisted of two seasons (spring and winter cultivation) and six levels of fertilizer (control, NPK-s, NPK-n, Fe-chelated-n, NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n, NPK-s + NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n). The traits included grain yield per plant, essential oil percentage and yield, mucilage percentage and yield, antioxidant properties in the seeds and leaves, including total phenols and flavonoids content, DPPH radical scavenging, and nitric oxide and superoxide radical scavenging. The results showed that winter cultivation had a noticeable advantage over spring cultivation across all of the traits. The highest grain yield per plant was obtained in winter cultivation using NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n fertilizer treatment. The highest essential oil percentage was in NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n. The highest mucilage percentage was observed in NPK-s + NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n fertilizer treatment, which was not statistically different to NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n treatment. The combined effects of winter cultivation and NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n fertilizers resulted in improving antioxidant activity traits. Overall, the results indicated that the combination of winter cultivation and NPK-n + Fe-chelated-n fertilizers are the most appropriate treatment to acquire highest qualitative and quantitative yield of Dragon’s head, in the Azerbaijan region (Iran).Resistivity logging is an important technique for identifying and estimating reservoirs. Oil-based mud (OBM) can improve drilling efficiency and decrease operation risks, and has been widely used in the well logging field. However, the non-conductive OBM makes the traditional logging-while-drilling (LWD) method with low frequency ineffective. In this work, a new oil-based LWD method is proposed by combining the capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) technique and the inductive coupling principle. The C4D technique is to overcome the electrical insulation problem of the OBM and construct an effective alternating current (AC) measurement path. Based on the inductive coupling principle, an induced voltage can be formed to be the indirect excitation voltage of the AC measurement path. Based on the proposed method, a corresponding logging instrument is developed. Numerical simulation was carried out and results show that the logging instrument has good measurement accuracy, deep detection depth and high vertical resolution. Practical experiments were also carried out, including the resistance box experiment and the well logging experiment. The results of the resistance box experiment show that the logging instrument has good resistance measurement accuracy. Lastly, the results of the well logging experiment indicate that the logging instrument can accurately reflect the positions of different patterns on the wellbore of the experimental well. Both numerical simulation and practical experiments verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the new method. The review collects together some recent information on the identity and pharmacological properties of magnoflorine, a quaternary aporphine alkaloid, that is widely distributed within the representatives of several botanical families like Berberidaceae, Magnoliaceae, Papaveraceae, or Menispermaceae. Several findings published in the scientific publications mention its application in the treatment of a wide spectrum of diseases including inflammatory ones, allergies, hypertension, osteoporosis, bacterial, viral and fungal infections, and some civilization diseases like cancer, obesity, diabetes, dementia, or depression. The pharmacokinetics and perspectives on its introduction to therapeutic strategies will also be discussed.Understanding factors influencing groundwater quality is critical to the development of best management practices at the large watershed scale. In this study, the shallow groundwater (10-20 m depth) in the Su-Xi-Chang region, eastern China, was investigated as part of a monitoring program from 2007 to 2008 to analyze the regional groundwater quality as well as the hydrogeochemical processes and their controlling factors. Conventional physicochemical water parameters (pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total phosphorus), major cations (Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and NH4+) and anions (Cl-, NO3- and SO42-) were measured. Hydrochemical methods and multivariate statistical methods were applied to analyze the hydrogeochemical signatures, origins, the similarities among the variables and to identify the main pollution sources in the groundwater. The results showed that (1) the concentrations of TDS (224.89-1086.70 mg/L) and turbidity (0.1-18.60 NTU) were higher than the class II groundwater quality standards in China and the WHO drinking water standards, (2) there were extremely high concentrations of ammonia (0.01-32.90 mg/L), with a mean value of 0.72 mg/L and (3) the nitrate concentrations (average value of 22.07 mg/L) exceeded the class III groundwater quality standards. The study also provided evidence that weathering, dissolution of carbonate, halite and silicate and cation exchange were the possible primary hydrogeochemical control mechanisms in the groundwater. The sources of ammonia, total phosphorus, sulfates and nitrates included rock-water interactions and anthropogenic activities. The groundwater administration of pollution sinks and sources, long-term legal frameworks and economic incentives should be improved to optimize watershed scale management in the context of rapid development in China. As a highly influential physiological factor, pH may be leveraged as a tool to diagnose physiological state. It may be especially suitable for diagnosing and assessing skin structure and wound status. Multiple innovative and elegant smart wound dressings combined with either pH sensors or drug control-released carriers have been extensively studied. Increasing our understanding of the role of pH value in clinically relevant diagnostics should assist clinicians and improve personal health management in the home. In this review, we summarized a number of articles and discussed the role of pH on the skin surface as well as the factors that influence skin pH and pH-relevant skin diseases, but also the relationship of skin pH to the wound healing process, including its influence on the activity of proteases, bacterial enterotoxin, and some antibacterial agents. A great number of papers discussing physiological pH value have been published in recent decades, far too many to be included in this review. Here, we have focused on the impact of pH on wounds and skin with an emphasis on clinically relevant diagnosis toward effective treatment. We have also summarized the differences in skin structure and wound care between adults and infants, noting that infants have fragile skin and poor skin barriers, which makes them more vulnerable to skin damage and compels particular care, especially for wounds.
