Imaging cannot be performed during natural weightbearing in biomechanical studies using conventional closed-bore MRI, which has necessitated simulating weightbearing load on the joint. Upright, open MRI (UO-MRI) allows for joint imaging during natural weightbearing and may have the potential to better characterize the biomechanical effect of tibiofemoral pathology involving soft tissues. However open MRI scanners have lower field strengths than closed-bore scanners, which limits the image quality that can be obtained. Thus, there is a need to establish the reliability of measurements in upright weightbearing postures obtained using UO-MRI.
Knees of five participants with prior anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture were scanned standing in a 0.5 T upright open MRI scanner using a 3D DESS sequence. Manual segmentation of cartilage regions in contact was performed and centroids of these contact areas were automatically determined for the medial and lateral tibiofemoral compartments. The incidence rate of adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) has significantly increased over the past two decades. Surgery remains the only curative treatment. However, there are currently few studies on Chinese AEG patients. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyze the survival and prognostic factors of AEG patients in our center.
Between January 2008 and September 2014, 249 AEG patients who underwent radical resection were enrolled in this retrospective study, including 196 males and 53 females, with a median age of 64 (range 31-82). Prognostic factors were assessed with the log-rank test and Cox univariate and multivariate analyses.
The 5-year survival rate of all patients was 49%. The median survival time of all enrolled patients was 70.1months. Pathological type, intraoperative blood transfusion, tumor size, adjuvant chemotherapy, duration of hospital stay, serum CA199, CA125, CA242 and CEA, pTNM stage, lymphovascular or perineural invasion, and the ratio of positive to negative lymph nodes (PNLNR) were significantly associated with overall survival when analyzed in univariate analysis.
Our study found that adjuvant chemotherapy, PNLNR, intraoperative blood transfusion, tumor size, perineural invasion, serum CEA, and duration of hospital stay after surgery had significance in multivariate analysis and were independent risk factors for survival.

Vertebral augmentation is the first-line treatment for the osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures. Bone cement leakage is the most common complication of this surgery. This study aims to assess the risk factors for different types of cement leakage and provides a nomogram for predicting the cement intradiscal leakage.
We retrospectively reviewed 268 patients who underwent vertebral augmentation procedure between January 2015 and March 2019. The cement leakage risk factors were evaluated by univariate analysis. Different types of cement leakage risk factors were identified by the stepwise logistic analysis. We provided a nomogram for predicting the cement intradiscal leakage and used the concordance index to assess the prediction ability.
A total of 295 levels of vertebrae were included, with a leakage rate of 32.5%. Univariate analysis showed delayed surgery and lower vertebral compression ratio were the independent risk factors of cement leakage. The stepwise logistic analysis revealed percutaneous vertebroplasty was a risk factor in vein cement leakage; delayed surgery, preoperative compression ratio, and upper endplate disruption were in intradiscal cement leakage; age, preoperative fracture severity, and intravertebral vacuum cleft were in perivertebral soft tissue cement leakage; no factor was in spinal canal cement leakage. The nomogram for intradiscal cement leakage had a precise prediction ability with an original concordance index of 0.75.

Improving cardiovascular health requires public knowledge and reduction of modifiable cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors. This study assessed knowledge of risk factors and warning signs for CVDs among young and middle-aged adults in Morogoro, Tanzania.
We conducted a community-based survey as part of cluster randomized controlled study of community health workers (CHWs) intervention for reduction of blood pressure among young and middle-aged adults in rural Morogoro. Information on socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge of risk factors and warning signs for CVDs was collected using an interviewer administered questionaire. Knowledge was assessed using open-ended questions followed by closed-ended questions. Descriptive statistics were used to describe knowledge of risk factors and warning signs. Logistic regression analysis was used to investigate factors associated with adequate knowledge of risk factors and warning signs for CVDs.
Two-thirds (65.7%) of the participants had heard about CVDe providers were less likely to provide health education regarding risk factors and warning signs for CVDs. Health promotion interventions to increase population knowledge of risk factors and warning signs should be implemented for successful reduction of CVDs in Tanzania.

Peer support has been recognised as a promising strategy to improve self-management in patients living with chronic conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes (T2D). The purpose of the review was to synthesise the best available evidence on face-to-face peer support models for adults with T2D in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
We searched Medline, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health, Literature Academic Search Ultimate, PsycINFO, CAB Abstracts, Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition, SPORTDiscus, Africa-Wide Information, MasterFILE Premier, SocINDEX, ERIC, PsycARTICLES, Open Dissertations, Communication & Mass Media Complete, Health Source-Consumer Edition and Google Scholar for the period January 2000 to December 2017. Reference list checking and contact with authors were additional sources of data. Screening of papers, critical appraisal and data extraction were carried out independently by at least two reviewers.
From 3092 abstracts retrieved from database searches, data was extractedoften supplemented by other peer support methods. The supervision of peer supporters was generally poorly described.
The comprehensive synthesis of the best available evidence has led to new insights regarding face-to-face peer support as a self-management strategy for patients with T2D in LMICs. Face-to-face peer support may be implemented in innovative ways to improve the quality of life of patients with T2D.

The abrasion behavior of various ceramics is rarely investigated, though it is relevant for the clinical success of such restorations. The aim of this in vivo study was to evaluate the wear of feldspathic-ceramic-veneered zirconium oxide frameworks over a period of at least 10 years.
The abrasion behavior of 15 bridge constructions from 15 different participants was examined after a period of 3, 5, and 10 years using plaster models, which were then subjected to a scanning process on the Atos II industrial scanner and digitized for three-dimensional evaluation of the abrasion by the corresponding software (ATOS Professional 7.6). The individual post-examination models were compared to the baseline model and deviations calculated in the sense of the largest, punctual loss of material in millimeters („minimal distance”), the average abrasion in millimeters („mean distance”), and the volume decrease in cubic millimeters („integrated distance”). Statistical analyses were performed using the Wilcoxon sign rank posterior region increases significantly over time. An increasing frequency of parameters was observed, particularly in the second half of the study period. However, the use of this class of materials can be considered clinically acceptable. Circulating angiopoietin-like 2 (ANGPTL2) protein levels are known to be significantly increased in numerous chronic inflammatory diseases and are associated with the diagnosis and/or prognosis of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and various types of cancers. However, no data regarding the relationship between ANGPTL2 and diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are available. Here, we explored the potential link between ANGPTL2 and DFUs.
A total of 68 participants with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were recruited, including 28 patients with DFU and 40 diabetic patients without DFUs. The clinical characteristics of T2DM patients with and without DFUs were compared. Serum concentrations of ANGPTL2 and VEGF were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. The correlations between ANGPTL2 and clinical variables were analyzed. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression models were constructed to test the associations between ANGPTL2 and the severity and presence of DFUs.
