However, efficacy and safety comparisons between ICIs as monotherapy and ICIs with chemotherapy are lacking. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials published before February 29th, 2020, with the search terms „immunotherapy” and „chemotherapy”. 10 eligible trials were identified with a total of 5,956 patients. Of these patients, 3,204 received immune therapy and 2,752 received chemotherapy. PD-1 inhibitors with chemotherapy improved OS (HR 0.84, 0.77-0.92), PFS (HR 0.80, 0.75-0.85), and objective response rate (ORR) (odds ratio (OR) 2.55, 1.20-5.28) compared to PD-1 inhibitors as monotherapy. In contrast, PD-L1 inhibitors plus chemotherapy showed no significant differences in OS, PFS, or ORR compared with PD-L1 inhibitors as monotherapy. When patients were stratified according to PD-L1ombined with chemotherapy were particularly significant in patients with low PD-L1 expression levels.

All colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors have an increased risk of developing second primary malignancies (SPMs). The association between diabetes mellitus (DM) and the risk of cancer is well known. However, the role of DM and its therapy in the development of SPMs in CRC patients is not well described.
In this single-institutional retrospective analysis we identified 1,174 colorectal carcinoma patients, median follow-up 10.1 years, (median age 63 years, 724 men). All patients over 18 years with histologically confirmed CRC who were admitted in the period 1.1. 2003- 31.12.2013 and followed-up till 31.12. 2018 at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (MMCI) were screened for eligibility. The exclusion criteria were CRC diagnosed at autopsy, lost to follow-up and high risk of development of SPMs due to hereditary cancer syndrome. Tumours are considered multiple primary malignancies if arising in different sites and/or are of a different histology ormorphologygroup. Comparisons of the basic characteristics betwe, together with standard breast and colorectal cancer screening, and lung cancer screening under certain conditions, and should be recommended in CRC survivors especially in patients with intercurrent DM, however the necessary frequency of screening remains unclear.
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common renal cancer and it has the worst prognosis among all renal cancers. However, traditional radiological characteristics on computed tomography (CT) scans of ccRCC have been insufficient to predict the pathological grade of ccRCC before surgery.
Patients with ccRCC were retrospectively enrolled into this study and were separated into two groups according to the World Health Organization (WHO)/International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grading system, i.e., low-grade (Grade I and II) group and high-grade (Grade III and IV) group. Traditional CT radiological characteristics such as tumor size, pre- and post-enhancing CT densities were assessed. In addition, radiomic texture analysis based on the CT imaging of the ccRCC were also performed. A CT-based machine learning method combining the traditional radiological characteristics and radiomic features was used in the predictive modeling for differentiating the low-grade from the high-grade ccRning cohort and validation cohort, respectively.

Malignant breast cancer is the leading cause of death by cancer in young women. The study aimed to determine if breast cancer mortality among young women has increased between the period from 1996 to 2017 in Brazil.
A time-series analysis of breast cancer mortality rate in young women (20-39 years old) was carried out. Mortality data, from 1996 to 2017, were collected from the Mortality Information System of the Health Ministry, and demographic data, from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Trends in mortality were performed by Joinpoint Regression, the spatial distribution of the mortality rate was done with the QGIZ Software version 2.18, and Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used to correlate the mortality rates with the Human Development Index.
There was an increase in breast cancer mortality rates in young women in the majority of Brazilian states, with an upward trend in all regions. The correlation with the Municipal Human Development Index, income, and education had a significant impact on the mortality rate for women from 30-39 years old in both time frames evaluated and for women from 20-29 years old, only from 1996 to 2000.

Splenectomy was traditionally performed to dissect the splenic hilar lymph nodes. Considering the important functions of spleen, whether splenectomy would bring beneficial to gastric cancer patients is debatable. This meta-analysis aimed to make an updated evaluation on the effectiveness and safety of splenectomy.
Literature searches were performed to identify eligible RCTs concerning effectiveness or safety of splenectomy with gastrectomy from PubMed, MEDLINE, CBMdisc, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Two reviewers completed the study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment independently. The meta-analyses were performed by RevMan 5.3.
A total of 971 patients from four studies were included (485 in splenectomy group and 486 in spleen preservation group). Splenectomy did not increase 5-year overall survival rate (RR=1.05, 95% CI 0.96, 1.16) or increase postoperative mortality (RR=1.21, 95% CI 0.41, 3.54). However, the analysis demonstrated that gastrectomy with splenectomy had significantly higher incidence of postoperative complications (RR=1.80, 95% CI 1.33, 2.45). No significant differences were found in terms of the number of resected lymph nodes and reoperation rate; however, splenectomy had a tendency to prolong the duration of surgery and hospital stays. Subgroup analyses indicated that splenectomy could not increase overall survival rate for either whole or proximal gastric cancer. Sensitivity analyses also found similar results compared to the primary analyses.

Although researchers have been working on MM, a comprehensive quantitative Bone Marrow Interstitial Fluid (BMIF) and serum proteomic analysis from the same patients’ samples is not yet reported. The present study involves the investigation of alterations in the BMIF and serum proteome of MM patients compared to controls using multipronged quantitative proteomic approaches viz., 2D-DIGE, iTRAQ, and SWATH-MS. A total of 279 non-redundant statistically significant differentially abundant proteins were identified by the combination of three proteomic approaches in MM BMIF, while in the case of serum 116 such differentially abundant proteins were identified. The biological context of these dysregulated proteins was deciphered using various bioinformatic tools. Verification experiments were performed in a fresh independent cohort of samples using immunoblotting and mass spectrometry based SRM assays. Thorough data evaluation led to the identification of a panel of five proteins viz., haptoglobin, kininogen 1, transferrin, and apolipoprotein A1 along with albumin that was validated using ELISA in a larger cohort of serum samples. This panel of proteins could serve as a useful tool in the diagnosis and understanding of the pathophysiology of MM in the future.
Glioma is one of the most common tumors of the central nervous system, and many patients suffer from recurrence even after standard comprehensive treatment. However, little is known about the molecular markers that predict the recurrence patterns of glioma. This study aimed to demonstrate the correlations between molecular markers and glioma recurrence patterns, which included local/nonlocal recurrence and paraventricular/nonparaventricular recurrence.
Immunohistochemical techniques were used to assess the molecular markers of 88 glioma tissues following surgical resection. The recurrence patterns were divided into local recurrence, marginal recurrence, distant recurrence, multirecurrence, and subarachniod recurrence, with the last four recurrence patterns being collectively called nonlocal recurrence. According to whether the recurrence invaded ventricles, the nonlocal recurrence patterns were divided into paraventricular and nonparaventricular recurrence. However, the landscape of the head and neck cancer (HNC) microenvironment is not fully understood. Therefore, we divided HNCs into three classes according to differences in the TME to determine effective personalized treatments. We explored the immune landscape of head and neck cancer by analysing the gene expression profile of 501 cases from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data portal and validated our findings in 270 cases from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The levels of immune components in the tumor microenvironment were evaluated via single-sample gene set enrichment (ssGSEA) analysis. The HNCs were clustered into an Immunity-H group, Immunity-M group and Immunity-L group according to 40 immune components in the tumor microenvironment. DNA damage and HLA genes play an important role in immune regulation. The patients in the Immunity-H group had a favourable survival compared with patients in the Immunity-M group and the Immunity-L group. The patients in the Immunity-H group and Immunity-M group could benefit from radiotherapy. In addition, the Immunity-L group showed the lowest immunophenoscore and had poor response to anti-PD-1 treatment. CXCR3 was demonstrated to be downregulated in the Immunity-L group, which was related to shorter OS in the TCGA and GEO databases, suggesting CXCR3 as a potential therapeutic target. Taken together, our findings proposed three new microenvironment-related phenotypes of HNCs and suggested that CXCR3 played a major role in immune regulation and could be a novel therapeutic target, providing a reference for clinical decisions and research directions in the future.Sirtuins (SIRTs) are members of the silent information regulator-2 family. These enzyme activities give it a diverse range of important biologic functions, such as energy metabolism, oxidative stress, and aging. Cancer is characterized as reprogramming of energy metabolism and redox imbalance, and SIRT4 can affect tumorigenesis. Here, we review the structure, localization, and enzyme activity of SIRT4 and its role in various neoplasms.
The aim was to determine whether the dual-energy CT radiomics model derived from an iodine map (IM) has incremental diagnostic value for the model based on 120-kV equivalent mixed images (120 kVp) in preoperative restaging of serosal invasion with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).
A total of 155 patients (110 in the training cohort and 45 in the testing cohort) with LAGC who had standard NAC before surgery were retrospectively enrolled. All CT images were analyzed by two radiologists for manual classification. Volumes of interests (VOIs) were delineated semi-automatically, and 1,226 radiomics features were extracted from every segmented lesion in both IM and 120 kVp images, respectively. Spearman’s correlation analysis and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) penalized logistic regression were implemented for filtering unstable and redundant features and screening out vital features. Two predictive models (120 kVp and IM-120 kVp) based on 1serosal invasion in preoperative restaging for LAGC. The radiomics features derived from IM showed great potential for improving the diagnostic capability.

It still remains unclear whether patients with atypical meningioma (AM) could benefit from postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (PORT) after gross-total resection (GTR).
Exploring the effectiveness of PORT on AM patients after GTR.
Literatures on PubMed, Embase, Web of science, and Scopus databases published between January 2000 and January 2019 were searched. After the selection based on the certain exclusion criteria, the Newcastle-Ottawa evaluation scale was used to evaluate the quality of the included literatures. Finally, a meta-analysis was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of PORT on local control (LC), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in atypical meningioma patients after GTR.
A total of 17 articles with 2,008 AM patients were included in the meta-analysis. The 5-year LC, 5-year PFS, and 5-year OS rates were 82.2, 84.1, and 79.0%, respectively, for AM patients receiving PORT after GTR, and they were 71.0, 71.9, and 81.5%, respectively, for those not receiving PORT after GTR. PORT could significantly improve 5-year LC rate (OR [95% Cl] = 2.59 [1.40-4.81],
= 0.002) and 5-year PFS rate (OR [95% Cl] = 1.99 [1.35-2.95],
= 0.001), but did not significantly improve 5-year OS rate (OR [95% Cl] = 1.07 [0.60-1.91],
= 0.828).
PORT could improve the 5-year LC rate and 5-year PFS rate in AM patients after GTR. AM patients might benefit from PORT after GTR.

Transnasal endoscopic nasopharyngectomy (TEN) has become increasingly used for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (rNPC); however, there is no report on the definitive resectable contour for TEN according to the latest staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The aim of this study was to establish the types of TEN for rNPC.
A total of 101 rNPC patients underwent TEN from January 2016 to April 2019 at the authors’ institution. TEN was categorized into four types, which included type I (n=40) with resection of the nasopharynx and sinuses; type II (n=10) with lateral extension to the parapharyngeal space; type III (n=40) with lateral extension to the floor of the middle cranial fossa and the infratemporal fossa and superior extension to the orbital apex and the cavernous sinus back to the prevertebral region; and type IV (n=11) with the resection of the involved internal carotid artery following type III. The 2-year overall survival rate (OS) and local recurrence-free survival rate (LRFS) were assessed.
The median time of follow-up was 20 months. Twenty-five patients reoccurred. Nineteen patients died. Independent predictors of outcome on multivariate analysis were recurrent T stage (P = 0.039), types of TEN (P = 0.002) and surgical margin (P = 0.003). The 2-year OS and LRFS was 76.2% and 53.6%, respectively.
The result of TEN in the treatment of rNPC is promising. The types of TEN will provide effective guideline for surgical treatment of rNPC.

Two tremendous breakthroughs in bladder cancer therapy over the last decades are the approval of immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)and the fibroblast growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (FGFR-TKI) erdafitinib for treating this deadly disease. Despite the beneficial effects of these approaches, the low response rate and the potential resistance of the cancer are major concerns. Hence, novel combination therapies to overcome these limitations have been investigated. In this context, combining immunotherapy with targeted drugs is an appealing therapeutic option to improve response and reduce the emergence of resistance in the management of bladder cancer. In this review, the rationale of using different therapeutic combinations is discussed according to the mechanistic differences, emphasizing the efficacy and safety based on evidence collected from preclinical and clinical studies. Finally, we highlight the limitations of these combinations and provide suggestions for further efforts in this challenging field.
While most guidelines advocate D2 lymphadenectomy for non-metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma (nmGaC), it is not always performed as standard of care outside East Asia. The recommended minimal examined lymph node (ELN) count in nmGaC to stage cancer accurately varies largely across guidelines, and the optimal count to satisfactorily stratify patient survival has yet to be determined. This large cohort study aimed at robustly defining the minimal and optimal thresholds of examined lymph node (ELN) number in non-metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma (nmGaC).
Data on nmGaC patients operated in 2010-2016 and surviving ≥3 months were retrieved from the US SEER-18 Program and a Chinese multi-institutional gastric cancer database (MIGC). The correlation of ELN count with stage migration and patient survival were quantified with the use of the multivariable-adjusted logistic and proportional hazards Cox models, respectively. The sequences of odds ratios (ORs) and hazard ratios (HRs) for each additional ELN were smoothervival correlation. This observational investigation does not indicate causality. Our findings robustly conclude 17 ELNs as the minimum and propose 33 ELNs as the optimum thresholds, to assess the quality of lymph node examination and to stratify postsurgical survival.

Hyperlipidemia has been hypothesized as a risk factor for thyroid cancer. However, the association between hypercholesterolemia and thyroid cancer is unclear, especially in Chinese population without available published data. We conducted this study to investigate the relationship between hypercholesterolemia and differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in Chinese population.
Three thousand seven hundred forty-eight patients were enrolled in the study, including 2,021 DTC patients and 1,727 benign subjects with benign thyroid nodules. Demographic characteristics, medical history, and clinical hematological examination were collected. Stratified analyses of association between hypercholesterolemia and risk of DTC were done. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the association between hypercholesterolemia and the risk of thyroid nodules being malignant. This study protocol was approved by the ethics committee of Shandong Provincial Qianfoshan Hospital and assigned in ClinicalTrials.gov he risk of thyroid nodules being malignant is, and this difference is statistically significant (odds ratio = -0.67, 95% CI (-1.31, -0.03),

Studies of olfactory dysfunction in asymptomatic patients have not been reported. We conducted a study looking for the presence of olfactory dysfunction with an objective assessment tool in asymptomatic Covid 19 and compared it with patients with mild COVID-19 and age-matched controls. We recruited 57 male patients each of Mild COVID-19, asymptomatic Covid 19, and healthy controls for the study. All participants underwent evaluation of smell threshold by Butanol Threshold test (BTT) and ability to distinguish common odors by Smell identification test. The scores of each test were recorded on a numerical scale. The participants in all three arms were matched for age, history of smoking, and pre-existing medical conditions. The mean scores of the Butanol Threshold test in Mild COVID-19, asymptomatic Covid 19 and controls were 2.95 ± 2.25 (0-7.5), 3.42 ± 2.23 (0-7.5), and 4.82 ± 1.86 (0-8), respectively. A one-way ANOVA showed a significant difference between groups (df 2, MS 53.78, F 11.94, p less then 0.005). Intergroup differences using the student T-test showed significantly low BTT scores in Mild COVID-19 (p less then 0.005) and asymptomatic (p less then 0.005) as compared to control. BTT scores could not distinguish between asymptomatic patients and control. The smell threshold was impaired in asymptomatic Covid 19 and Mild COVID-19. Butanol Threshold Test score could not differentiate between asymptomatic Covid 19 and controls.To determine prevelance of ENT symptoms in COVID 19 positive patients. A cross sectional study was performed at SRTR GMC AMBAJOGAI, a tertiary care hospital amongst the patients admitted in COVID 19 isolation ward with a positive RT-PCR report. Amongst the included 180 patients, 112 patients had one or more ENT related symptoms that included throat pain (47.2%), loss of smell (55.5%), loss of taste (58.8%) and hearing loss (54.44%) along with generalized COVID 19 symptoms. In this study, we aimed to compare the butanol olfactory threshold values between COVID-19 patients and healthy volunteers.A cross-sectional study was designed. A total of 53 patients were included in the COVID-19 group and the control group. The definitive diagnosis of COVID-19 was made with reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. Frequency of odor and taste dysfunction and other head and neck system-specific and other symptoms were recorded. Afterward, olfactory threshold values determined according to Connecticut Chemosensory Clinical Research Center (CCCRC) test principle for study groups. 21 patients included in the COVID-19 group and 32 patients in the control group. Symptom onset time was 7.1 ± 3.1 (min 3, max 14) days for COVID-19 patients. The most common symptom in the otolaryngology system was olfactory dysfunction (n = 15, 71.4%). The butanol olfactory threshold value was determined as an average of 4.4 ± 1.9 in the COVID-19 group and 6.4 ± 0.8 in the control group (p less then 0.001, 95% CI 2.9-1.0). The sensitivity of the butanol threshold test for COVID-19 related olfactory dysfunction was 80.0% and the specificity was 66.6%. For differential, early and initial, diagnosis of COVID-19, complaint of the smell dysfunctions, and impairment butanol threshold may be a distinctive indicator.The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (coronavirus disease 2019, COVID-19) pandemic has placed a tremendous burden on healthcare systems globally. Therapeutics for treatment of the virus are extremely inconsistent due to the lack of time evaluating drug efficacy in clinical trials. Currently, there is a deficiency of published literature that comprehensively discusses all therapeutics being considered for the treatment of COVID-19. A review of the literature was performed for articles related to therapeutics and clinical trials in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic. We used PubMed, Google Scholar, and Clinicaltrials.gov to search for articles relative to the topic of interest. We used the following keywords „COVID-19”, „therapeutics”, „clinical trials”, „treatment”, „FDA”, „ICU”, „mortality”, and „management”. In addition, searches through the references of retrieved articles was also performed. In this paper, we have elaborated on the therapeutic strategies that have been hypothesized or trialed to-date, the mechanism of action of each therapeutic, the clinical trials finished or in-process that support the use of each therapeutic, and the adverse effects associated with each therapeutic. Currently, there is no treatment that has been proven to provide significant benefit in reducing morbidity and mortality. There are many clinical trials for numerous different therapeutic agents currently underway. By looking back and measuring successful strategies from previous pandemics in addition to carrying out ongoing research, we provide ourselves with the greatest opportunity to find treatments that are beneficial.Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) are closely linked to nutrition. The latest research indicates that diet and nutrition are significantly involved in the etiopathogenesis of the disease, although their specific role throughout its clinical course still remains unclear. This study reviewed how diet and nutrition are associated with IBD development and management. Even though specific diets have been shown to bring about positive outcomes, there is currently no scientific consensus regarding an appropriate diet that would benefit all IBD patients. We suggest that individualized dietary recommendations are of the greatest importance and that diets should be planned to provide individual IBD patients with specific nutrient requirements while keeping all the clinical aspects of the patients in mind. Further research is clearly necessary to investigate nutritional factors involved in IBD development and, especially, to evaluate the applications of the diets during the course of the disease.This article seeks to understand a common and regular feature of asylum decision-making, namely, that the majority of asylum claims are rejected, mostly on the basis of non-credibility. It draws on a bottom-up, qualitative study of an administration in which asylum decision-making takes place the Swiss Secretariat for Migration. By adopting a practice-theoretical approach to administrative work, it advocates paying attention to caseworkers’ routinised, self-evident and largely unquestioned behaviours, not only in terms of what they do, but also of what they think, feel and know. Building on Bourdieu, it introduces the concept of institutional habitus, which refers to the dispositions caseworkers develop on the job. On the basis of a specific decision-making practice termed 'digging deep’, the article shows how these dispositions are structured and how, through the practices institutional habitus generates, these 'structuring structures’ are continuously reaffirmed, leading to the relatively stable outcomes of administrative decision-making that can be observed from the outside. The article argues against the assumption that regularities of administrative work should be understood as the outcome of strict rule-following, top-down orders and political instrumentalism. At the same time, it challenges the individualist quality sometimes ascribed to discretionary practices in street-level bureaucracy literature and in critiques of credibility assessment practices in asylum adjudication.In response to the COVID-19 pandemic medical students in different countries were mobilized to support healthcare systems during the emergency. This study presents the experience of 580 students of a single medical university in Poland who served as volunteers at different healthcare units during the first six months of the first case being recorded in the country (March-September 2020). The mean ± SD hours and days spent on volunteering in the studied group were 52 ± 36 h and 144 ± 126 d, respectively, the collective number of worked hours amounted to 83,460 h. Compared to other fields of study students of medicine engaged in volunteering for more hours and for more days. The main tasks performed by the surveyed group included triage, servicing call-centers for patients and working at the admission ward, hospital clinics, emergency departments and diagnostic labs. The level of fear at the beginning of volunteering was relatively low in the studied group and did not increase over the course. The majority of students received positive feedback from families, friends, patients and healthcare workers, revealed a high level of satisfaction from volunteering (also when experiencing COVID-19-related prejudice), while gaining professional experience and a sense of giving real aid were among the most frequently indicated benefits. The results of the present study demonstrate that although medical students are not essential workers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, they can be of real assistance to healthcare systems during times of emergency, and should be considered as such in the future in case such a need arises again.
The objective of this study was to assess the number of dental procedures performed in the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS) during the first wave of COVID-19 in Brazil (1
semester of 2020) and compare it with the same period of 2019.
A retrospective study was conducted based on the SUS Dataset (DATASUS). Descriptive analysis of the number of dental procedures and socio-demographic regions was presented and the number of dental procedures during the first semester of 2020 was compared to 2019, using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test (α=0.05). The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths were also retrieved from DATASUS.
Dental procedures decreased from 47 million in the first semester of 2019 to 15 million in 2020, representing an overall decrease of about 66%. Statistically significant differences were observed for the numbers of procedures regarding preventive actions related to oral health (-84.53%;
<0.001), primary care (-60.69%;
<0.001), endodontic specialized care (-52.50%;
<0.001), and periodontal and oral surgery specialized care (-54.57%;
<0.001).
The COVID-19 pandemic also reduced by half the number of oral health procedures provided by the SUS in almost all Brazilian states regardless of whether these states had a large number of confirmed cases or deaths. Future policies are recommended in order to reduce the negative impact of the suspension of dental services on the oral health of the population.

African potato (
) is used against HIV to enhance immune-function, although no studies have evaluated its use in HIV infected individuals on combination antiretroviral therapy. The study aimed to evaluate the acute effects of orally administered hypoxoside, a constituent of African potato, on the hepatic and renal function in HIV infected individuals on tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/ lamivudine/ efavirenz regimen.
This was an open-label, two-period, fixed-sequence, pre-post test study, pilot design. Ethical approval was obtained from Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe (MRCZ A/2045) and Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ CT134/2016). Blood samples were collected before and after administration of African potato tablets. Tablets were administered orally once daily at 15mg/ kg hypoxoside for 10 days. Visual Social Distancing (VSD) offers an opportunity for real-time measuring and analysing the physical distance between pedestrians using surveillance videos in public spaces. It potentially provides new evidence for implementing effective prevention measures of the pandemic. The existing VSD methods developed in the literature are primarily based on frame-by-frame pedestrian detection, addressing the VSD problem from a static and local perspective. In this paper, we propose a new online multi-pedestrian tracking approach for spatio-temporal trajectory and its application to multi-scale social distancing measuring and analysis. Firstly, an online multi-pedestrian tracking method is proposed to obtain the trajectories of pedestrians in public spaces, based on hierarchical data association. Then, a new VSD method based on spatio-temporal trajectories is proposed. The proposed method not only considers the Euclidean distance between tracking objects frame-by-frame but also takes into account the discrete Fréchet distance between trajectories, hence forms a comprehensive solution from both static and dynamic, local and holistic perspectives. We evaluated the performance of the proposed tracking method using the public dataset MOT16 benchmark. We also collected our own pedestrian dataset „SCU-VSD” and designed a multi-scale VSD analysis scheme for benchmarking the performance of the social distancing monitoring in the crowd. Experiments have demonstrated that the proposed method achieved outstanding performance on the analysis of social distancing.To stop the spread of COVID-19 transmission, the UK put a first lockdown on the entire country during the months of March and May 2020, which strictly curtailed personal mobility and economic activities. The present study is aimed to understand attitude of people towards noise inside their homes in London during the lockdown. Tweets from the social media platform were collected during the lockdown and the same periods in 2019. Additionally, subjective responses to outdoor and neighbour noises were collected through a questionnaire survey. Tweets about noise complaints during the lockdown were more than twice of those before introduction of lockdown. A substantial increase in talking/shouting, and TV/music activities were observed among the neighbour noise sources. Similar findings were obtained from the survey. The respondents answered that the perceived outdoor noise level decreased but perceived neighbour noise level increased during the lockdown. The outdoor noise annoyance ratings were revealed to be significantly lower than those before the lockdown. In contrast, neighbour noises were more frequently heard and annoyance ratings increased compared to the pre-lockdown period. In particular, talking/shouting and TV/music were most annoying. Furthermore, neighbour noise was more annoying than outdoor noise during the lockdown. This suggests that neighbour noise is more problematic than outdoor noise during lockdown. The findings of this study would be useful in designing the future strategy to enhance the acoustic comfort and city sustainability.A majority of children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) have demonstrated attention and executive function deficits as measured by both parent report measures and performance on tasks requiring sustained levels of attention. However, prior studies have consistently reported a lack of association between parental report-based and task-based performance measures. The current study investigated whether changes in performance over time within-task (i.e., first-half versus second-half) better correspond to parental reports of executive function and temperament in children with FASD. Greater differences in split-half performance during a continuous performance task were found to be associated with higher parent-reported levels of behavioral regulation and inhibitory control. These findings suggest that within-task performance differences may more accurately reflect individual differences in executive function and temperament as measured by parental report and help to further inform the way in which cognitive processes are measured in children with FASD.

In this review, the efficacy and safety of FDA approved neuromodulation devices (electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS)), as well as emerging neuromodulation treatments currently under investigation.
ECT is the „gold standard” somatic therapy for treatment resistant depression (TRD). Although the clinical benefits are outweighed by potential cognitive and cardiovascular side effects in majority of cases, it remains unfairly stigmatized. TMS has few cognitive or somatic side effects but is not as effective the treatment of psychotic depression or more treatment resistant depression in elders. VNS has limited data in older patients but has been shown to be effective in chronic, treatment resistant adults. Several investigative neuromodulation treatments including magnetic seizure therapy (MST), focal electrically administered seizure therapy (FEAST), transcutaneous VNS (tVNS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and deep brain simulation (DBS) shown promise in geriatric TRD.

Mutations in the Filaggrin gene can cause absent or reduced filaggrin protein, leading to impaired keratinization and skin barrier defect, which produce characteristic phenotypes. In this short review, we report current evidence on the topic with special reference to atopic dermatitis, suggest future directions, and discuss therapeutic implications.

Given the extensive literature on internal validity, here, we review threats and methods to improve external validity.

The present review attempts to provide a comprehensive and critical overview of the neurocognitive mechanisms of gambling disorder (GD), problematic pornography use (PPU) and binge-eating disorder (BED), focusing specifically on decision-making processes.
GD, PPU and BED have been associated with decision-making impairments both under risk and ambiguity. Features such as intelligence, emotions, social variables, cognitive distortions, comorbidities, or arousal may condition decision-making processes in these individuals.
Impairments in decision-making seem to be a shared transdiagnostic feature of these disorders We also hypothesized the EG relative to the NEG group would demonstrate weaker relationships between problem-gambling severity and health/functioning measures (e.g., substance use) and gambling behaviors (e.g., more time spent gambling) given that EG would account for some of the variance in the relationships between ARPG and these measures. However, there is varying support for the degree to which different features may affect decision-making.
