The result showed that five MAPK members displayed induced expression profiles both in vitro and in vivo, and the peak expression was detected at different time points. Our study provides new insights into the evolutionary history of the MAPK family and show the similar immune function among MAPK members. The ubiquitous distribution of plastics and microplastics (MPs) and their resistance to biological and chemical decay is adversely affecting the environment. MPs are considered as emerging contaminants of concern in all the compartments, including terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric environments. Efficient monitoring, detection, and removal technologies require reliable methods for a qualitative and quantitative analysis of MPs, considering point-of-need testing a new evolution and a great trend at the market level. In the last years, portable spectrometers have gained popularity thanks to the excellent capability for fast and on-site measurements. Ultra-compact spectrometers coupled with chemometric tools have shown great potential in the polymer analysis, showing promising applications in the environmental field. Nevertheless, systematic studies are still required, in particular for the identification and quantification of fragments at the microscale. This study demonstrates the proof-of-concept of a Mini’s percentage in the mixtures, with R2 greater than 0.9 for the three analytes and a low and comparable Root-Mean Square Error. In addition, the developed model was challenged with environmental weathered materials to validate the system with real plastic pollution. The findings show the feasibility of employing a portable tool in conjunction with chemometrics to quantify the most abundant forms of MPs found in the environment. The rapid industrialization of the world is disparagingly manipulating our environment and natural ecosystem. The researchers are taking keen interest to invent novel material as photocatalyst for non-degradable organic pollutants. Solar energy-driven practices employing semiconductors are a novel approach towards wastewater remediation. Here in, we successfully synthesized a vigorous photocatalysts comprising of g-C3N4 and doped ZnO-W/M (M = Co, Ce, Yb, Sm) by co-precipitation followed by metals doping via calcination approach. The structural, morphological, and photocatalytic applications for organic pollutants of synthesized heterostructure nanocomposites were examined by XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDX and UV visible spectrophotometer. Diffraction peaks attributed to both g-C3N4 and ZnO-W were detected in the XRD spectra. The FTIR spectra also inveterate the formation of g-C3N4/ZnO-W/M composites. The SEM images reveal an agglomerated morphology and EDS analysis also confirmed close contact between g-C3N4, ZnO-W and doped metals. The abridged energy band gap of g-C3N4/ZnO-W/M (M = Ce, Yb, Sm, Co) nanocomposites calculated via Tauc plot are 2.68, 2.88, 3.24 and 3.29 eV respectively. Narrowing of bandgap is considered an imperative triumph for the degradation of industrial effluents. The photocatalytic activity was performed against four different dyes and follows the trend Ce > Yb > Sm > Co. The recyclability tests were carried out for different dyes and no substantial catalytic activity loss was observed even after the fourth experimental run, which proves that reported ternary heterojunctions exhibit high mechanical stability and reusability. The species trapping experiment exposed that generated h+ are the principal active specie for dye photodegradation reactions. This work disseminates a novel photocatalyst for the removal of synthetic dyes.
Extensive studies have linked PM
and PM
with respiratory diseases (RD). However, few is known about causal association between PM
and morbidity of RD. We aimed to assess the causal effects of PM
on cause-specific RD.
Hospital admission data were obtained for RD during 2014 and 2019 in Beijing, China. Negative control exposure and extreme gradient boosting with SHapley Additive exPlanation was used to explore the causality and contribution between PM
and RD. Stratified analysis by gender, age, and season was conducted.
A total of 1,183,591 admissions for RD were recorded. Per interquartile range (28μg/m
) uptick in concentration of PM
corresponded to a 3.08% [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.66%-4.52%] increment in morbidity of total RD. And that was 4.47% (95% CI 2.46%-6.52%) and 0.15% (95% CI 1.44%-1.78%), for COPD and asthma, respectively. Significantly positive causal associations were observed for PM
with total RD and COPD. Females and the elderly had higher effects on total RD, COPD, and asthma only in the warm months (Z=3.03, P=0.002; Z=4.01, P<0.001; Z=3.92, P<0.001; Z=2.11, P=0.035; Z=2.44, P=0.015). Contribution of PM
ranked first, second and second for total RD, COPD, and asthma among air pollutants.
PM
was causally associated with increased morbidity of total RD and COPD, but not causally associated with asthma. Females and the elderly were more vulnerable to PM
-associated effects on RD.
PM1 was causally associated with increased morbidity of total RD and COPD, but not causally associated with asthma. Females and the elderly were more vulnerable to PM1-associated effects on RD.Nowadays, fast-growing industrialization has resulted in the release of enormous amounts of contaminants such as toxic dyes into water bodies and leading to cause health and environmental risks. In this regard, we prepared inorganic nanocomposites for the treatment of toxic dyes. Hence, we synthesized TiO2/PAni/GO nanocomposites and examined them by using XRD, SEM, TEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, BET analysis, and a photoluminescence investigation. In addition, band gap energies of the nanocomposites were determined, and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) testing was used to determine dye degradation levels. The photocatalytic degradations of Thymol Blue and Rose Bengal dyes were investigated at different dye concentrations, illumination periods, solution pH values, and photocatalyst dosages. By using TiO2/PAni/GO, TiO2/PAni, and TiO2 at neutral pH, a photocatalyst dose of 1600 mg/L, and exposure to visible light, Thymol Blue and Rose Bengal were photodegraded 85-99%, 60-97%, and 10-20%, respectively, at a concentration of 25 ppm (180 min). Reductions in the TOCs confirmed their photodegradation, and a kinetic study revealed photodegradation followed first-order kinetics. This study shows the coating of polyaniline (PAni) and graphene oxide (GO) on TiO2 improved its ability to photodegrade Thymol Blue and Rose Bengal dye.The main focus of the study was to witness the effects of chicken waste-based biodiesel blends along with constant hydrogen injection in a modified diesel engine. Furthermore, the nanoparticle multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) effects on the engine efficiency were also examined. A series of tests was conducted in the single cylinder, water cooled engine fuelled with diesel, CB100N, CB10N, CB30N, and CB50N. Throughout the entire run, constant hydrogen injection of 5 LPM has been maintained. The parameters such as brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, heat release rate and the emissions of different pollutants were determined for a variety of engine speeds. ASTM standards were applied to measure the viscosity, density and calorific value. From the reported findings, it was clear that the addition of the chicken waste biodiesel could be a sustainable substitute for the existing fossil fuels. Although the emission of the pollutants was dropped significantly, there was a massive drop in the BTE values. To compensate such shortage of power, the biodiesel was dispersed with MWCNT at the concentration of 80 ppm. Compared to the regular biodiesel, MWCNT inclusion increased the BTE by 14%. Further, the consumption of the fuel was also reduced marginally. Considering the pollutants, the catalytic activity of the MWCNT reduced the emissions of CO, NOx, and HC at various engine speeds. Besides, 10% reduction in NOx had been reported at lower engine speeds and was reduced to 8% at higher speed regimes. Compiling all together, increasing the concentration of the biodiesel blends obviously reduced the performance values and however, there was a great advantage in terms of the emission magnitudes irrespective of the engine operating conditions.
The rapid increase of food allergy (FA) has become the „second wave” of allergy epidemic and is now a major global public health concern. Mounting evidence indicates that early life exposure to air pollution is associated with the „first wave” of allergy epidemic (including asthma, allergic rhinitis and eczema) in children, but little is known about its association with FA.
We hypothesize FA has triple exposure pathways, gut-skin-airway, and investigate the effects of airway exposure to outdoor and indoor air pollution on childhood FA.
A cohort study of 2598 preschool children aged 3-6 years old was conducted in Changsha, China. The prevalence of FA was surveyed using a standard questionnaire by International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC). Exposure to indoor air pollution was assessed by four indicators new furniture, redecoration, mold or dampness, and window condensation. Exposure to outdoor air pollution was evaluated by the concentrations of PM10, SO2 and NO2, which were obtaineyears.
Early-life exposure to high levels of outdoor and indoor air pollution in China due to the rapid economic growth and fast urbanization in the past decades may contribute to the rapid increase of food allergy (FA) in children. Our study indicates that, in addition to gut and skin, airway may be a new route of food sensitization. Air pollution leads to the first and second waves of allergy epidemics, suggesting a concept of 'one allergy’ disease.

However, a small subset of feline patients with drug-resistant epilepsy requires alternative therapies. Furthermore, approximately 50 % of cats with epileptic seizures are diagnosed with structural epilepsy with or without hippocampal abnormality and may respond to surgical intervention. The presence of hippocampal pathology and intracranial tumors is a key point to consider for surgical treatment. This review describes feline epilepsy syndrome and epilepsy-related pathology, and discusses the indications for and availability of neurosurgery, including lesionectomy, temporal lobectomy with hippocampectomy, and corpus callosotomy, for cats with different epilepsy types.A significant amount of work has been devoted towards understanding the cellular and humoral immune responses in arthropod vectors. Although fleas (Siphonaptera) are vectors of numerous bacterial pathogens, few studies have examined how these insects defend themselves from infection. In this study, we investigated the immune defense mechanisms in the hemocoel of cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), currently the most important flea pest of humans and many domestic animals. Using model species of bacteria (Micrococcus luteus, Serratia marcescens, and Escherichia coli), we delivered a systemic infection and measured the following antimicrobial activity of hemolymph, levels of free radicals resulting from the induction of oxidase-based pathways, number of circulating hemocytes, phagocytosis activity of circulating hemocytes, and in vivo bacteria killing efficiency when phagocytosis activity is limited. Our results show that the antimicrobial activity of flea hemolymph increases in response to certain species of bacteria; yet, a systemic infection with the same bacterial species did not influence levels of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a reactive intermediate of oxygen, at the same time.
