Unlike various topical treatment options for acne vulgaris, options for acne scars mostly involve invasive interventions. So far, only a few clinical trials have investigated the effects of topical treatment for acne scars.
We evaluated the safety and efficacy of DA-5520, a recently developed topical gel for the treatment of different types of acne scars.
A 12-week prospective, randomized, active-controlled, evaluator-blind, single-center study involving 36 participants with acne scars was performed. Participants were randomized into four different groups at a 1111 ratio laser resurfacing with DA-5520 application (test 1); laser resurfacing without DA-5520 application (control 1); comedone extraction with DA-5520 application (test 2); and comedone extraction without DA-5520 application (control 2). For 12weeks, participants in the two test groups applied DA-5520 twice daily, while participants in the control groups applied moisturizers alone. Participants in the test 1 and control 1groups received a single session of laser resurfacing at visit 1 (week 0). All participants were followed up at 1, 4, 8, and 12weeks, and objective scar evaluation using the échelle d’évaluation clinique des cicatrices d’acné (ECCA) score was performed at each visit.
Clinical improvement of acne scars, confirmed by the ECCA grading scale (1 for atrophic scar and 2 for hypertrophic scar), was observed after using DA-5520 when combined with laser resurfacing or individually, and no associated adverse reactions were noted.
Preliminary results of this study revealed that DA-5520may be a promising new formulation for treating all type of acne scars.

Meanwhile their use in alkylation processes has been somehow limited due to their inherent difficulty in evolving to less-stable radicals after sulfur dioxide extrusion. Herein we report a convenient strategy that involves gem-difluorinated sulfinates as an „upgrading-mask”, allowing these precursors to decompose into their corresponding alkyl radicals. The electron-donor character of sulfinates in the formation of an electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complex with transient iminium ions is displayed, achieving the first example of a stereocontrolled light-driven insertion of gem-difluoro derivatives into unsaturated aldehydes. This methodology is compatible with flow conditions, maintaining identical levels of enantiocontrol.Iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe2 O3 NPs) is the main component of air pollution particles in urban rail transit environment. People are more exposed to Fe2 O3 NPs, however, the studies on relationship between Fe2 O3 NPs and respiratory health are limited. In the present study, acute airway inflammation caused by Fe2 O3 NPs and its possible mechanism were investigated. BALB/c mice were intratracheally challenged with different concentrations of Fe2 O3 NPs. Fe2 O3 NPs induced bronchial epithelial barrier function damage, infiltration of neutrophils and lymphocytes into the airway submucosa, secretion of mucus in the airway epithelium and elevated expression of eosinophil major basic protein (EMBP) in lungs. Compared with the control group, Fe2 O3 NPs increased eosinophils by 20 times in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and markedly increased eosinophils related cytokines and chemokines, including interleukin (IL) -5, IL-33, thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP)-3, eotaxin, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, keratinocyte chemoattractant (KC). Furthermore, Fe2 O3 NPs up-regulated levels of IL-5, MCP-3, eotaxin, and KC in serum. In vitro studies showed that Fe2 O3 NPs increased the genes and proteins expression of Toll-like receptors (TLR)-2, TLR4, TNF receptor associated factor 6 (TRAF6), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), nuclear factor (NF)-κB, and TNF-α in RAW267.4 cells. The downstream inflammatory cytokine protein expression and release such as TNF-α was significantly decreased after using TLR2/TLR4 inhibitor OxPAPC, but not MyD88 inhibitor ST2825. These results suggest that TLR2 and TLR4 played important role in Fe2 O3 NPs inducing acute eosinophilic airway inflammation in the murine lung.Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) are the most frequent primary liver cancers, accounting for approximately 80% and 15%, respectively. HCC carcinogenesis occurs mostly in cirrhosis and is a complex multi-step process, from precancerous lesions (low-grade and high-grade dysplastic nodules) to progressed HCC. During the different stages of liver carcinogenesis, there is an accumulation of pathological, genetic and epigenetic changes leading to initiation, malignant transformation and finally tumour progression. In contrast, a small subset of HCC occurs in normal liver from the transformation of hepatocellular adenoma (HCA), a benign hepatocellular tumour. The recent molecular classification enables to stratify HCAs according to their risk of complication, in particular malignant transformation, associated with mutations in exon 3 of the catenin beta 1 (CTNNB1) gene. Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) derives from the multistep malignant transformation of preneoplastic lesions, like biliary intraepithelial neoplasia (BilIN) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB), for which a pre-operative diagnosis remains difficult. Different genetic alterations are involved in BilIN and IPNB progression, leading to the development of tubular or intestinal adenocarcinoma. The aims of this review are to describe the main clinical and molecular features of preneoplastic lesions leading to the development of HCC and CCA, their implications in clinical practice and the perspectives for future research.
Tap water iontophoresis (TWI) is an effective treatment option for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis (HH). However, the optimal number and frequency of TWI sessions to control profuse sweating are unclear.
To compare the efficacy of 10 and 20sessions of TWI in patients with palmoplantar HH and determine the adequate number of sessions to achieve a favorable clinical response.
Eighty patients treated with TWI for palmoplantar HH were included. The alteration in sweating intensity considering the mean value of gravimetric measurement and mean visual analog scale (VAS) scores after the 10th and 20th session of TWI were calculated. The difference between performing 10 and 20sessions of TWI in providing improvement of HH was analyzed. We also conducted a telephone-based inquiry to determine the patients’ outcome.
The reduction in sweating intensity was significant both after the 10th (p<0.001) and 20th (p<0.001) sessions when compared with the basal level considering gravimetry and VAS. When the mean sweating intensity after the 10th and 20th sessions were compared, no difference was observed gravimetrically (p=0.03); the difference between the mean score of VAS after the 10th and 20th sessions (p<0.001) was significant. Eleven and nine patients not considering a maintenance or an alternative treatment had lower and same sweating intensity as compared with the baseline, respectively.

Herein, a series of platinum(II)-tethered chalcogenoviologens (PtL+ -EV2+ , E=S, Se, Te) is reported, which integrate the functions of photosensitizer, electron mediator and catalyst. PtL+ -EV2+ (particularly for PtL+ -SeV2+ )-based one-component solar H2 production could be triggered not only by EDTA, but also by facultative anaerobic and aerobic bacteria relying on a simplified mechanism, along with efficient antibacterial activities. In addition, by using real pool water, PtL+ -SeV2+ achieved multiple functions, including H2 production, antibacterial action and acid removal, which supplied a new strategy to solve various problems in real life via a single system.
To assess the clinicopathological characteristics of a cohort of patients with oral leukoplakia (OL) managed in a Romanian dental hospital and to evaluate the risk of malignant transformation (MT).
We conducted a hospital-based retrospective study using the clinical charts of patients diagnosed with OL that had complete clinical and histopathological evaluation followed up for 1-16years.
From 120 included patients, 68 (56.7%) were females, and 71 (59.2%) were current smokers. The homogeneous form was present in 60% of cases; the buccal mucosa was the most frequently involved site. MT was observed in 9 cases, which was more common in females and in those with dysplastic leukoplakia. A significant statistical association was found between MT and dysplasia grade (χ
test p=0.007). MT occurred during a mean interval of time 75months in both treated and non-treated patients.

But despite the clinically benign appearance of leukoplakia, tissue diagnosis of some cases was carcinoma. The results of the current study advocate the necessity for biopsy even in apparently homogeneous, clinically benign lesions. The malignization rate was 7.5%; two-thirds were nonhomogeneous lesions.

These processes, like viral entry or immune synapse formation, occur on the diffusive cellular membrane. One crucial, yet underexplored aspect of multivalent binding is the mobility of coupled receptors. Here, we discuss the consequences of mobility in multivalent processes from four perspectives (I) The facilitation of receptor recruitment by the multivalent ligand due to their diffusivity prior to binding. (II) The effects of receptor preassembly, which allows their local accumulation. (III) The consequences of changes in mobility upon the formation of receptor/ligand complex. (IV) The changes in the diffusivity of lipid environment surrounding engaged receptors. We demonstrate how understanding mobility is essential for fully unravelling the principles of multivalent membrane processes, leading to further development in studies on receptor interactions, and guide the design of new generations of multivalent ligands.
